Legacy Biomechanics Laboratory
The Legacy Biomechanics Laboratory was founded in 1999 by Michael Bottlang, PhD, and Steven Madey, MD, under the premise that interdisciplinary collaboration between biomedical engineers and orthopaedic surgeons will catalyze strategies for the advancement of health care.
Today, our team includes three orthopaedic surgeons, two Ph.D. scientists, and three research associates at the masters level, as well as engineering students and orthopedic residents. The Legacy Biomechanics Laboratory is affiliated with the Legacy Level I Trauma Center and is housed in the Legacy Research Institute, a 65,000 sq. ft. facility that opened in 1997. It serves as a resource for basic and applied research and engages in industry collaboration.
